The Moxon Society is a One-Name Family History Society, dedicated to the name Moxon, and its many variants.
The late James (Jimmy) Moxon published his book "The Moxons of Yorkshire" in 1987. In April 1988 he published the first "Moxon Magazine", then available by annual subscription. In 1989 he, and the late Dick Moxon, organised the first Moxon Society Gathering in Leeds in the "Heart of Moxon Yorkshire". This most successful event was followed by the Gathering in 1990, when it was decided to form the Moxon Society, on 1st January 1991. Since then we have gone from strength to strength!
We currently have 131 Members, scattered across the world, in the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Philipines, Jamaica, France and Holland.
The main object of the Society is to help Members research their own Moxon family trees, and then to connect "cousins" together.
The Society publishes "The Moxon Magazine" twice yearly, in April and October, which is sent to all Members (by airmail for overseas Members), the cost being included in the Annual Membership Subscription. We also publish Moxon related books and booklets.
We have an Annual Gathering devoted to Moxon family history, early in September each year. It is open to all Members and their adult families. Advance reservations are essential.
The Society holds extensive records of Moxons from around the world, and has no fewer than 51 Moxon family trees identifying Members and their ancestors. These trees are continuously updated as new information becomes available.
